Newsela Reading Response Assignment: 

          You will go onto your Newslea online newspaper and pick out an article that interests you.  You may have to read through a few to pick one you want to respond to.  
          After reading the chosen article use the graphic organizer below to make a R.A.C. E. response paragraph.   The R.A.C.E.response rubric will be used in grading your paragraph.  

You have a choice of 2 different prompts...
                                                            1) What is the main (central) idea of the article?  
                                                                                         or
                                                              2) Why should a middle school student read this article.


Type your paragraph under you graphic organizer.  Print out both and turn them into the homework drop off.
